Just saw this on the standings email:

SUPER A DISCUSSION - MEETING ON NOV. 7 - 1pm - The new Super A format has had its share of ups and downs. A special meeting has been scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 1:00pm at the Framingham Eagles to discuss future adjustments. Those who play Super A, are on teams that are candidates for being bumped up or are simply interested in playing at that level are highly encouraged to participate in these discussions. If you plan to attend this meeting, please contact Adam Sherlock, MMDL Commissioner at adams@mmdl.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false or 617-799-4180. To discuss these issues in the meanwhile, please click here <http://minutemandartleague.freeforums.org/super-a-discussion-forum-f54.html?sid=d6f35298646551b9dc4ab8bbdf2df7f0> to visit the Super A discussion forum. Please help spread the word about this to any friends and teammates who may not receive these emails.

I have changed this post to an "announcement" so it gets better attention.

Please note that this meeting is open to ALL members regardless of what division you play in. Some people have noted that nobody tells them about these league activities. I'm not sure how much more we can communicate in addition to weekly emails and out website, so PLEASE help spread the word of this meeting and this discussion forum so that nobody can say they didn't have a chance for their voice to be heard.

If you know someone who doesn't have email and doesn't get on the Internet, help them out.

I play in super A, but i also have 2 kids a wife(also plays darts) a full time job in this economy is pretty good so that being said why are we having a super A meeting on Saturday at 1 on November 7th in the afternoon. like more than 40% of people work Saturdays. Just because i care i have to take 3 Saturdays off in a row! i believe that there is a single event on the following Saturday also were alot of super a shooter (probably a lot more than u would have at a meeting on Saturday at 1)will be so why don't we have a meeting then so the people on my team dont have to take 2 Saturdays off from work and i have to travel from Maine and southern new Hampshire back to back to back weekends!!!yes super A is a big deal to me but now after talking to my area director for almost 3 hours about this we have a lot of people that agree that having a meeting on Saturday at 1 is very very stupid i really thought that we were trying to make this work!!!!!!!!so i would like to ask if we can move this meeting to the 14th at a time that would fit the schedule of the events i would really appreciate it!!!!

I understand your constraints with making this meeting, however, please understand that there really is no good day or time to hold this to accomodate everyone, a day must be picked and this was it. Most people work during the week too, there really is nothing ideal. In my experience, people don't even come to meetings when they are conveniently scheduled, so no guarantee a different day and time would produce better attendance.

That said, there are other ways to provide input. We also have this forum that is not bound by time or space, hopefully more people will learn how to take advantage of this.

I am also sure the meeting by itself is not the be all end all of these Super A issues, the conversation is ongoing. If you are certain there will be alot of people in attendance on the 14th, an additional meeting could be held, but we are holding our cricket event that day, so likely someone would need to assist the board in arranging this as the tournament consumes a lot of our attention.

What has the greater chance for success......a meeting in the middle of the day on a Saturday with no other dart activities,or a meeting held at a scheduled qualifier where a decent number of Super A and A shooters will be due to the fact that it is a cricket qualifier. My bet would be on the latter.Just my opinion, not a critique.

This is an important discussion, vital to the future of Super A which many people worked really hard to accomplish. So it deserves its own dedicated meeting. At the cricket tournament, board members will be very focused on making that a successful day in its own right and the Super A issues deserve more attention than that. This doesn't mean a discussion can't take place at that event, but the official Super A meeting is happening on Nov 7th in Framingham.

In the past I've seen people try to have a lot of meetings before tournaments and they just don't get pulled off well (people show up late or not at all, people are too focused on playing darts, by the time you get together and organized, the tournament starts, etc.), so while it seems an opportune time when folks are gathered, it's not perfect either.

I still think the meeting should be on the 14th before the qaulifier .Theres enough people to help set up on the north shore so everybody on the bod could attend .i don't think there would be to much of a distraction imo

The Super A players do not play until 4:00 what are they going to do all day? Sorry Brian the 14th is a bad idea. I for one will be way to busy to get into this during the course of the day. Since I am on the Board and play in the division I would really like to be involved.

I would say that anyone that can not attend the meeting on the 7th should come down to Elks early on the 15th. I will be there by ten and the more people that are able to give us their feedback the better. I strongly recommend attending both the meeting on the 7th and showing up early on the 15th.

There was 8 board members in Attendance (3 of which play Super A, 1 A) and 9 league players (4 Super A players and 5 A players).
The one thing that stood out the most was a way to trim time off the night to some limited degree. It would seem that most teams are not starting at 7:30, and that is not helping the situation. The institution of a league wide 7:30 start time becoming a reality in the Spring, the hope is this will improve the finishing time. The only format change that seemed to make sense at this point was changing the 501s to single games Double in Double out, to trim 10 to 20 minutes off the total time. Nothing was voted on, it was an informational meeting. Most of the A players seem to be most concerned with the time it takes to play the format.
Tons of good ideas where touched on and debated. Id like to thank those who could take time to come out to this one for participating. Next weekend on Saturday if your a player in A or Super A and would like to discuss this, please find myself, Becky or Dan. Also on Sunday, Dan is planning on setting some time before the ADO event (around 10am) to further the discussion.
Based on these interactions, letters received and feedback here in the forums, we will go to the next Board of Directors meeting on November 30th to make a decision whether to tweet the format or to leave it alone till Summer. Either way, no matter what ends up happening, its my belief the Super A will have to be looked at again by the membership and the Board next Summer.

Thanks again to all those in attendance. - Adam

well i had too much stuff going on to make it... but i hope that the new start time will be enough of a time tweak to keep people happy i would really like to keep the format... after a season of 730 start times then possibly consider the straight starts (no choice for bull) before we mess with the format. as i stated in other post i believe cutting off 24 diddles should save 12-15 minutes.

there is no way we are really tooo far apart on times to not try that first before changing the format. IMO of course...

to get someone elses perspective... a guy on looney toons last night stated he would prefer mandating two boards be used before we changed back to a single game of doubles 501 as he likes the current format.

i tend to agree... in my limited league experience i DO NOT see to many people who pay close attention to the matches. so far in my experience i would say that it is limited to ONE person!!! despite what all you old folks try to write on here... ;)
